    Falling a big cedar tree.

The United Steelworkers is bargaining with the Western Forest Products Inc. which operates lumber manufacturing plants and harvest timber on Vancouver Island. Western Forest Products owns and operates eight sawmills located on Vancouver Island that produce high quality, value-added products for its global customers. The company harvests timber on tenure that includes six Tree Farm Licences and six Forest Licences on timberland owned by the Province of British Columbia as well as approximately 30,000 hectares of private land. There are about 2,000 USW Local 1-85 and 1-1937 members who work for Western Forest Products.

USW & WFP Bargaining Concludes With 4-Year Deal

Negotiations between the United Steelworkers and Western Forest Products Inc. concluded in Nanaimo on Friday, July 23rd at approximately 4:30pm after twenty-one days of collective bargaining.

USW Local 1-85 and USW Local 1-1937 members employed by Western Forest Products lumber manufacturing and logging operations will vote to ratify this agreement at a time and location determined by their respective Local Unions. Click here for local union office contact details.
